Volos- a good place to have an upscale Greek dinner downtown

Finally made it to Volos for dinner last night. Tried the chicken avgolemono soup with dill and orzo, the grilled octopus served with melitzanasalata (eggplant spread, this version was made with walnuts), fried zucchini stack with tzatziki, the souztoukakia (meatballs with tomato sauce), and tasted my friend's moussaka and my other friend's orzo with seafood (salmon, mussels, shrimp, calamari). The grilled octopus was nicely grilled, and at $16, was a more generous portion than most downtown and Yorkville restaurants are offering these days for that price point. The moussaka was the best version I think I've tasted in a restaurant, and included zucchini and eggplant. The Chef offered a complimentary order of nicely grilled calamari to the tables while we were there, which was a nice touch. i ended the meal with a Greek coffee and some Greek yogurt with mixed berries and honey.

Portion sizes and prices were reasonable for the neighbourhood. Nice selection of Greek, Canadian, and other types of wines by the glass.

Very friendly, down-to-earth, service. The owner made a point to visit each table, which was a nice touch. When we arrived, we mentioned that we had theatre tickets, and the restaurant was able to serve us 3 courses in 90 minutes, without making us feel rushed.

Although the restaurant was energetic, conversation at the table wasn't difficult.

I was happy with everything I tried, and will be back again. Good place to stop before pre-theatre, pre-opera or pre-concert.

We had an excellent meal here yesterday evening. I would concur with Prima above.

Pleasant staff, very good fish, even the white wine from Santorini was good!

Finally had lunch there last week.

      Friendly, attentive service.

Started with the horiatiki salad -- honeslty, one of the most flavourful oilive oils in the salad that I have had since visiting Greece. Good amount of rich. creamy feta, and flavourful tomatoes.

Grilled fish - sea bass - beautifuly cooked, tasty.

I would be very happy to go back.
