Hi there!

I'll be flying out to Taipei tomorrow for 3 days, and am looking for great Beef Noodle Soup. Looking for chewy noodles and rich, flavorful broth. Any recommendations?

My personal favorite is Mama Zhang's (家廚川味牛肉麵) at No. 18 Section 1 Heping East Road right by Guting station.

Where are you staying? Every neighborhood has a beef noodle joint.

I'll be staying at Lake Hotel: No. 2, Lane 77, Bitan Rd, Sindian City, Taipei R.O.C

Also known as Xindian (新店). That's suburban Taipei but there is an MRT (subway) station there that will connect you to Taipei.

My favorite place, if it's still open, is actually pretty close to Condimentality's recommendation, which is much newer and cleaner and more modern-looking than the place I'm about to mention.

This is copied and pasted from Google Maps: 良月牛肉麵館
106, Taiwan, Taipei City, Daan District, Lane 101, Section 2, Luósīfú Road (Roosevelt Rd.), 3之1號

I think you'll be there in time for my favorite bowl of beef noodle soup (their tendon is quite good as well). They usually only make it on Fridays, if memory serves me correctly, and open after 11 or 1130AM. You can get there by taking the MRT to Guting Station, Exit 3 and walking straight (or south) one block. Make a left at the FamilyMart and you should see it straight ahead as the lane splits into a Y. The entrance will be on the right fork of the Y. You might also like to try their cold appetizers; I especially liked their pig ears.

Also on your way north on the Xindian MRT line, the Jingmei MRT stop has a decent night market near it that is open during the day. Good local foods at that one!

The best one's detailed on this thread:

For convenience sake if you happen to be passing anywhere near Taipei 101/Grand Hyatt area - the beef noodle stall at the food court in Taipei 101 mall is not bad at all.

Here’s two more. This place is not far from Taipei 101 or the Hyatt and was my go-to spot in the summer of 2006. They are still going strong:

            小樂天飯子館
            北市忠孝東路5段151號

            電話:(02) 2753-0793

This second place is not far from Mackay Memorial Hospital, part of a small chain. Try their Beef Noodles with Tomatoes - 蕃茄牛肉面.

            雙連旗艦捷運店
            北市民生西路35號
