Hot Shoppes making a comeback in DC.

"A Conversation with Bill Marriott"

Have you ever thought of reopening Hot Shoppes?
We’re going to have a Hot Shoppes at the new Marriott Marquis Hotel at the Convention Center. I will be overseeing the menu. It will be the first time we reopened a Hot Shoppes since the chain closed.

Will it be faithful to the old menu?
Chicken croquettes might not adapt to today, but you can’t mess around with the Mighty Mo.

...and what, please tell me, is wrong with warm, soft, comfort food like chicken croquettes?

    Lead me there!

I can only assume their market demographers did a thorough analysis and came to the conclusion that the average Marriot Marquis Hotel customer would more likely purchase something fried in olive oil and called "croquetas de pollo."

Come to think of it, the thought of what a Mighty Mo might cost in a Marriott Marquis could be mighty high. Damn.

I'll be happy if they just resist the urge to use seared ahi tuna, fois gras, and brioche.

Yea! A Mighty Mo and an orange freeze were a special treat when I was a kid. Thanks for sharing!
