Ladner/Delta and Environs

  • p

We come up from Seattle at least once a year to go birding at Reifel. Any recommendations on a good place to eat near there before we return home? Any ethnicity is fine.

  1. La Belle Auberge in Delta

    1. It's been a number of years ago now, but I remember having a truly wonderful rack of lamb at Taverna Gorgona in Ladner.

      1. Lunch in Tsawwassen at Ozzies, good homemade soups and sandwichs, closed Sun and Mon, opened till 3 the othe days.

        1. I second La Belle Auberge, but my last time there was many years ago !

Since you're already so close to Richmond, you could also go pig out at The Hog Shack:

Or some casual fish & chips at the Steveston pier/waterfront at PaJo's (two locations in Steveston area):

And of course, if Asian (particularly all genres of mainland Chinese/Hong Kong/Taiwan) is desired, Richmond is your oyster, so to speak.

          1. Thanks, everyone. Any recommendations for Chinese in Richmond? Especially when there are only 2 of us!

              For two...

Would you consider food court fare? I say the Richmond Public Market (specifically the XIan stall).

How about Chinese BBQ? (HK BBQ Master - get the roast pork on rice or the cha sui or the duck).

How about a noodle house (Michigan or Tsim Tsai for congee or noodle soups).

Taiwanese Beef Noodles? (Master Hung at Aberdeen Centre mall).

Or ..... xiaolongbao (XLB), small steamed meat & soup-filled buns that come in bamboo steamers. In Richmond there are several Shanghai restos with above-average XLBs:

                - Top Shanghai Cuisine
                - Dinesty
                - Shanghai Wonderful
                - Suhang
                - Shanghai River

Suhang is my current Richmond fave.

All looks great. Can't wait to get up there and try a few things. Thanks, everyone!

Please note that the staff of HK BBQ Master is on annual holidays until January.

                        Have fun eating!

Oh no !! I was thinking of going there to do a personal pig-out :-(

                          When are they back ?

                          1. re: LotusRapper

I think early January? I don't know for sure.

              2. I'm almost embarrassed to admit, but I like Sharkey's in Ladner. It's a maritime-themed seafood restaurant/pub - very casual and rustic. While I don't know if everything on their menu would be Chowhound-worthy, if you order their clams, mussels, or cioppino, you can't go wrong. It's a personal fav after birding at the bird sanctuary - love that place!
