New Years Eve in Monrovia

owlwoman Dec 19, 2011 08:18 AM

NY CH heading out to CA for the Rose Bowl, need a place in the Monrovia/Pasadena area (or any other place close by, don't know the area) for a nice dinner and dancing, if possible for NYE, looking to spend between $150 - $175 per person, thought our hotel might have something, but nothing.....any suggestions would be most helpful. As we all like to drink, taxi availability will be needed too. Thanks!

I noticed the other day that the Langham is going to have either dancing and appetizers and champagne with dancing in the Lobby lounge area or a sit down dinner in their main dining room. Lobby dancing with appetizers, champagne and dancing is $75 pp and the main dining room is $150 per person (without wine parings).

If you are young(ish) under 38, I'd skip the langham. Kind of stuffy crowd. Can you describe your party a bit more?

We're between 51 - 73, so the Langham might be perfect, we were thinking the lobby event might be fun.

I'm laughing as I am reading. It is a beautiful setting!!! Do they still have the piano bar?

more info. ..The Royce first seating is at 6-6:30 , $155 w/out wine, $210 w/; the second seating starts at 8:30 and $180 w/out wine, $250 w/...The Terrace is also serving dinner, less expensive, and menu listed via link below....we did the lobby/appetizer gig a few years ago just after they did the switchover from the Ritz-Carlton to the Langham, ...was with a live blues band (Arthur Adams) , the dance floor was literally cheek-to-cheek...Fun, but very crowded.

Thank you all, I think we'll try the lobby/appetizer gig at the Langham, seems to be the only game in town and dancing is the main objective here.

If you really want to thank us just come back here afterwards and make a report that we all can benefit from. Have a Happy New Year...

The Langham is full, we're on a wait list, any other ideas?

wherever you decide, try to avoid colorado blvd between sierra madre and old town. that's the rose parade route, people will be camping along the street and while it's kind of fun to see, it turns into a zoo at night and an exercise in futility, especially once you've had a few too many to drink.
