A couple of closures in NW/N MKE
I was running errands and discovered that the Mexican group that took over Alpine Village (Next to Taylor and Dunnes (sp? who have the greatest wings...) is up for sale. Sad, I will miss the Alpine. I never visited the place that took them over. Too many of that type in the area.
The over priced and poor service place called the Branded Steer II that took over Tumbleweeds space is up for sale. No big loss- Tumbleweeds tried, OTOH, my wife would kill to get a Tumbleweeds back in the area. Tumbleweeds was her favorite place. The owner dropped an awesome weekday buffet and sold out to franchise. The franchised Tumbleweeds were never as good as the first, but when one of the first expansions was at bayshore, I was required by my wife to visit EVERY DAY on my way home. (she was pregnant at the time and was just waiting for them to open to get her awful Louisville Texas food).
I hope who ever purchases Alpine Village will try to return it to its roots. The Milwaukee area has enough chain restaurants, places serving chocolatini's and over-priced steak restaurants. There is nothing wrong with going back to the ethnic basics. Great beer, cheese soup, schnitzel, spätzle and a big platter of grilled sausages.
