January 2012 Cookbook of the Month Voting

The nomination thread has closed and we have narrowed it down to the books listed below. Now is the time to decide which book will be chosen for January. More information on how COTM works, and previous books chosen can be found at http://www.chow.com/cookbook_of_the_m... Please remember to VOTE IN ALL CAPS. Voting will close at noon (eastern time) this coming Sunday (Dec. 18th) and I will post the winner that afternoon.

ESSENTIAL PEPIN by Jacques Pepin

WASHOKU (mention if you’d like it paired with KANSHA) by Elizabeth Andoh

HOW TO EAT by Nigella Lawson

Here is a link to the nomination thread if you’d like to read more about how we narrowed it down to these books: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/822602

      1. I'm going to go ahead and vote too. HOW TO EAT.

        1. What a fantastic list of finalists! I'm abstaining from voting because my recent track record of participating has been poor, but I really do hope to cook along in January if either Pepin or Lawson wins. I think Washoku would be beyond me at the moment, though I'd love to read what you all cook from it should it win.

          1. ESSENTIAL PEPIN by Jacques Pepin

            1. I'd be happy to cook from any of these, although I don't have the Pepin yet. It's on my Christmas list. As much as I'd like to do Japanese, I don't think there is enough support for it right now. So I'll throw in my vote for HOW TO EAT.

                    1. ESSENTIAL PEPIN

I'd also be happy with How to Eat, but I already own the Pepin so I'm voting for that one.

                                1. I will vote for HOW TO EAT since more people have that book.

Curious how you know that. I don't have the Nigella.

                                      1. re: buttertart

I was only remarking from the number of people who said the had it and so many said the did no could not get Pepin. I have both, so I don't mind which wins.

                                        1. PEPIN. Not a nigella fan. Washoku a little too much for January post-holiday budget..

                                          1. PEPIN. I don't have any of the books, but the library has Pepin, no others.

Looks like it is a good thing we went ahead with the voting thread. Seems like a split so far.

My vote goes to HOW TO EAT by Nigella Lawson

                                              1. ESSENTIAL PEPIN, but still hoping for a Japanese month one of these days.

                                                  1. I'll vote for the one I own: ESSENTIAL PEPIN.

                                                        1. I don't own any of the books, but I would definitely buy HOW TO EAT if that wins. So that will be my vote.

I would love to do Japanese some time (and Korean too!) but I'm not sure I would be up for it in January.

                                                            1. ESSENTIAL PEPIN but really-really wish to cook from Washoku
