Arthur Ave on Christmas Eve Day
Ill be at the botanical garden in the morning of Christmas eve day (sat) and wanted to stop by arthur ave for lunch/shopping after. Will most places be open?
(A couple of restaurants I called said theyd be closed all day)

They should be open, but expect madness at the fish stores, bakeries, and pasticcerie. Many Italians shop for their Christmas Eve fish the same day, or at least come in to pick up orders placed earlier. Good luck.

bob96, I remember Christmas Eve shopping on Arthur Ave for many, many years. Italians always waited till the last minute because it would be "fresh". I always wanted to know if they thought that the fish was caught that morning!!! Even today, with refrigeration and freezers, they still wait for the last minute. Buon Natale!!!!!

Working up there for 6 years, saw countless dramas in Biancardis. Randazzo's, and other shops, with customers fighting lines and waits to get their $200 holiday meats and fish. Pretty nasty, sometimes. Anyway, auguri di buon Natale e felice capo d'anno!
