Thursday night dinner option in Davis/Porter?

Looking for a new dinner option in Davis/Porter. Been to Posto many times (love it). Also been to Elephant Walk, Christophers, Sugar & Spice and Diva. I'm tempted to go to East Coast Grill's hotter than hell night tonight because I'm a big spicy food eater, but probably am going to avoid the crowds. I think it's all booked anyways. Not picky eaters - meat, seafood, pizza, spicy anything... you name it, but don't want to pay through the roof. Thoughts?

The newish Five Horses Tavern (former Sauce/Sagra/400 Highland) is worth checking out. It's a lower price-point than Posto or Foundry, and has a good tap selection. They've changed their menu since I was last in, but service has been very good and food has been good, although needing a few tweaks which I think they might have made. They seemed very receptive to comments and I really hope they succeed.

Ended up at Foundry on Elm around 8pm. Great atmosphere. Ordered the calamari as an appetizer. Good - although a little too salty for my taste (and I do like my salt). At the recommendation of the waiter I ordered the rainbow trout and it was excellent. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, although the dish came pretty much only with the fish - no side salad or veggies - so I'm glad we got the app. Finished the night with another drink at the bar. Overall great experience and would go again. Thanks again for the recommendations!

I second Greek Corner on Mass Ave. Cafe Barada is pretty good too (also on Mass Ave.) Both are close to Davis SQ. You can get off cheap at Greek Corner and have some great greek food, service is a bit hit or miss (usually a miss when it's busy).

        A few thoughts..
        • Flatbread Co, near the Davis T stop (the former Sacco's Bowl-Haven) has tasty, inventive pizzas. Last time I went their special was pastrami, cabbage, and mashed potatoes with a dijon mustard sauce -- never had anything like that before. Can be loud.
        • Foundry on Elm is a bit hit-or-miss -- I've had some unbearably noisy, mediocre meals there, but also some of the best dine-in food in Davis at other times.
        • For Indian, I prefer Namaskar to Diva. Better service, and they have some Indian/Chinese food, which is unique.
        • Greek Corner, right down Mass Ave, has some great Greek food. Nothing fancy.
        • Out of the Blue, next to the former Gargoyles, is a very decent seafood place worth checking out.

It's a totally different atmosphere (i.e., clean and bright, but you bus your own table) than most of the ones you listed, but for spicy food near Porter I'd head to Rod Dee.

Second on Rod Dee. Also on Mass Ave that we like is Hana Sushi, lovely and fresh. It is very close to Greek Corner, mentioned below.

Thanks everyone for the replies! This is very helpful. Definitely got some options that I hadn't heard of or considered.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Turkish restaurant Istanbul'lu a few blocks up Holland from Davis, right before Teele Square. Really tasty and interesting food, moderate prices, lots of veggie options as a bonus.
