Catering/Take Out Recommendations near Mass General Hospital...

Any suggestions or recommendations for good catering/take out restaurants or delis near Mass General Hospital? Friends from New York have taken an apartment in the area for an extended period to be near their 2 year old daughter who is being treated with chemotherapy. We'd like to call in and pre-order food and meals for them during this difficult time. Thank you.

Panificio on Charles Street should be able to put some meals together for you. This is a small neighborhood place. I would call them, tell them what you're trying to do and see what they suggest.

Upper Crust on Charles Street will deliver if pizza is an ok option. Also, there is a Whole Foods right near the hospital with a huge prepared foods section. I don't know if they deliver though but it is worth a call. Ma Soba on Cambridge Street will deliver pan asian and sushi. Finally, Sam La Grassas is a deli that will deliver during the day and is delicious. I love the pastrami traveler's sandwich. yum. After my first was born, my BIL had one delivered to my hospital room.
I'm so sorry that your friends are going through this difficult time. I know that MGH as an amazing pediatric oncology department and that their daughter will be in good hands.

For Thai food-try Similan (spelling?) in Cambridge. You can access their menu via their sister restaurant Brown Sugar.

I was in MGH twice with child deliveries, and my husband got us lots of good food both times from Charles Street establishments. Many sandwiches from Panifico, and pizzas and maybe pastas? (last one was six years ago!) from Figs. I should think that most of the restaurants in the area would gladly package and maybe even deliver good food locally.

Boston's a pretty small town (at least compared to Brooklyn/NYC); there's not much of "Boston proper" that isn't within delivery/cab range. Anything in "downtown", "Beacon Hill", the "West End", "North End", "Charles St.", or even "Kendall Sq." & "Tech(nology) Sq." in Cambridge, could probably hook something up for you. Blessed.

for sandwiches in that area, I like Cafe Podima on Cambridge Street approximately 2-3 blocks from MGH towards Gov't Center.

Another idea for you...there is a CVS near MGH. May I suggest that you could also consider a CVS gift card, for your friends to purchase Pediasure, or whey protein to add to milkshakes, etc. in the event that they need to give liquid meal replacements/supplements to their daughter. Feeding a two year old is challenging enough, I can't imagine trying to feed a two year old on chemo.

Foodler and Grubhub are two services that work with all kinds of local restaurants and deliver. Foodler seems to be a favorite. Also, there is a service called TaskRabbit that will pick up and deliver from anywhere.
