store bought frosting-how many days can it be left out (unrefridgerated)?

hi there-i used store bought frosting (don't ask) to frost some sugar cookies for a bday party. I plan to store the frosted cookies in an airtight container. I frosted them today, and the party is this Saturday. Is it okay for me to leave the frosted cookies in their container till Sat? or should they be refridgerated? Thanks!

The cookies need to be frozen but it has nothing to do with the icing but the idea that they would be sitting out that long. They won't be so perfect after sitting around at room temp for days. Don't refrigerate, they will just pick up fridge smells and possibly get stale since fridges do that.

I've used store frosting as much as a week to 10 days after initially opening with no problem in flavor or texture. No one (that I know of) has gotten sick, either.

Frosting usually says refrigerate after opening. Why gamble, either freeze and defrost Saturday or refrigerate. Next time consider baking the cookies and frosting at the last minute. Why chance anyone getting sick.

The frosting would probably be good for years. The cookies might suffer, though for that many days. I'd probably freeze them.
