Cha Cafe in El Monte--Fusion Goes Wild

Chandavkl Dec 13, 2011 01:13 PM

Apparently sometime last year an operation called Tony's Donut House located in Huntington Park opened up a Chinese/Asian fusion restaurant on Lower Azusa Road called Cha Cafe (their cash register receipt shows both names and addresses). And whoever put the menu together at Cha Cafe has a very fertile mind. Chinese quesadillas, described to me as a combination of Chinese sausage, sun dried tomatoes, and who knows what else. Cheesesteak potstickers. Chorizo wontons. Tofu sliders. Cha cheesesteak fries. Also other fusion items like poke nachos, pastrami banh mi, and kalbi beef in a sun dried tomato tortilla. Then there's the Wong Bowl and the Wang Bowl, the difference between them being one has beef and the other chicken. Cha Cafe has a lot of more normal dishes, too. They must do a lot of late night business as they're open from 11 am to midnight, seven days a week, at 10308 Lower Azusa Road.
