Ethiopian restaurant in the GTA?

veggiefoodlova Dec 12, 2011 04:21 PM

I'm trying to find an ethiopian restaurant in the GTA - preferably in the Durham region, but anywhere will do, as long as its not downtown? Are there any outside of the downtown, I can't seem to find any!

Not sure of your definition of downtown, but the east end of Danforth has a ton of them. Probably the easiest place in Toronto to find them.

Well, I'm looking for something more in the GTA, like the suburbs...preferrably east of Toronto, towards Scarborough or beyond that.

Nazareth Restaurant has good reviews and is on the somewhat west end.
      Service is apparently sub par.

thanks! it may be a bit far though, i'll be in whitby for 3 weeks or so and need a place closer to the east end that i can take my family to. i really thought it'd be easy to find an ethiopian place in scarborough, but doesn't seem like it.

if you're in whitby, its a 25 drive, door to door, to get to Dukem or any of the places on the Danforth.
toronto's Africa community has restaurants on the Danforth and Donlands area, some on Queen and Parliament area (not just Ethiopian) and then Bloor West and Queen West

It's more than 25 km and also more than 25 minutes at this time of year, with the road traffic very busy. I doubt the OP will find any place closer than the area on Danforth from Donlands to Woodbine, and Dukem is a good choice.

LMAO thanks guys. I'm gonna say it would take about 40 minutes or more - it took me about as much time to go to work in the morning from Whitby to Scarborough during rush hour.

Not sure what people's recent opinions on Rendez-Vous are but it is at Danforth/Coxwell area and featured on a coupon/voucher site today:

I like Rendez-Vous better than Lalibela across the street on Danforth. Really enjoyed their kitfo and friendly service.
