Prepping a duck--endless pin feathers

Argh! I had planned on roasting a duck today to make a Spanish dish of roast duck and pears. I bought a whole duck from our local co-op and...how on earth does one get rid of the frickin pin feathers?! I've been at it forever and feel like they are endless. Help? Please?

  1. take a brulee torch if you have and run it through the skin quickly

      Thank you for the quick reply M_and_H. I don't have a brulee torch, but perhaps I'll run out and get one. This has been so much more tedious than any turkey I've had before and almost makes me want to scurry back to vegetarianism. But not quite.

    2. Where the heck did the co-op get this duck from?? Because if it came from a commercial source, I'd be asking for my money back. I hope it wasn't expensive.

      One has to wonder if they couldn't process it properly before sale, how else they mishandled it.
