NC BBQ

I just read the entire discussion group "50 things to eat in NC (188 replies)" here on the Southeast Chowhounds. I understand the best BBQ places like Parker's and Allen and Son's keep getting mentioned.( Allen and Son's is my favorite one)

But one place that I reached out to try is really as outstanding. It is the Pik and Pig in Carthage NC.

They cook all Boston Butts over hard wood. And there just happens to be an airport for piper cubs and the such to watch landing and taking off. The food is outstanding and all the locals pack the place.

So if you have Christmas guests in from out of town I highly recommend it for a day trip.

Supernc-and yes I cook a mean Butt and am BBQ snob

My Motorcycle club wants to ride out after the weather warms up a bit, not all of the members eat pork, do they have any non pork items on the menu?

Honestly do not know. I did get BBQ-Chicken-Ribs from the web site. And they mentioned Deli sandwiches.

Check their website at the link above.

This is a neat place and worth a visit. We've enjoyed all our meals there. The jalapeno cornbread is quite good; pork is outstanding. Unless things have changed in the past 3 months, this place is a cash only joint (can't remember if they have an atm inside) for those choosing to pay with credit / debit cards.
