"dinner" seating in the bar at Tequila's
son wanted Mexican before the Kimmel Center saturday night so we went to Tequila's on Locust street. we know there is much better mex in the city, (we've had it!) location was main concern.
arrived in an empty restaurant at 6pm and were seated at a table (for 4), in the bar area (which was not busy because it was early) should have followed my instincts and asked for another spot, b/c in about half an hour, as the bar got crowded with singles/drunken women and men talking football; we had to finish our meal with people standing all around our table; people were absolutely hanging over me!
waiters constantly, (no kidding, like 20-25 times) saying, "excuse me, i need to get by" and then bumping my chair, a drunken woman in the bar who shouted "F you" so loudly, so many times that the manager asked her to quiet down ---
while the food was good, it was so wrong of them to cram three tables into a busy bar area --and pretend it would be an "elegant" meal. Never going back
Elmom, I am very sorry you had such a bad experience. Do you know if the restaurant was booked? Did you go in without a reservation? I have dined at Tequilas quite a few times over the years (its across from St. Mark's Church which hosts PCM events). Perhaps it can just be chalked up to this time of the year being very busy. I was actually planning to eat there this Friday before a concert, and am very curious as to your situation. I have found the food to be good (not great) but certainly better than many of the Mexican places in Philadelphia.
