Help with Christmas Eve tamale dinner
I've ordered fresh tamales for our Christmas Eve dinner. I'm looking for a fast and convenient way to reheat the tamales for a crowd of about a dozen folks.
I usually steam them and serve them in the husk. But this involves a bit of last minute work.
So I was thinking that it might be nice to husk them and lay them in a baking dish and cover them with sauce. Then heat the whole dish in the oven. Much like you would do to enchiladas. Anybody have any feed back on this method of heating and serving the tamales??
It does sound easier for you but I really think it loses something in the presentation. The neatly ties up husks are what makes you think "Ooooooooooooooohhhh tamales!"
I guess that would be ok but it sounds like a lot more work than putting them into a deep pot and letting them steam. Then folks do all the unhusking on their own plate and sauce they as they like--I prefer fresh salsa on mine.
