South FL travel advice

Hi Hounders-
I'm looking for recommendations in south FL for a family friendly hotel with good pool in walking distance of the beach (within a block or so) , and within walking distance of a kosher restaurant or two. I don't think will be over shabbos so we don't require Eruv or shul as we will have a car and my DH can drive to minyan. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

  1. PS my husband adds that if we can fulfil these criteria in another warm weather location apart from south FL, cancan or puerto rico that you guys should reply with those suggestions as well. TIA!

Just about any hotel from about 2nd street to the 50s on Miami Beach will fulfill those requirements. Any other requests so I can narrow down the suggestions?

    2. In Puerto Rico, there is the Ritz Carlton in San Juan, and El Conquistador further down the coast.

Chabad of Puerto Rico has an excellent catering service, and they will deliver food to hotels in the San Juan area for a very reasonable delivery fee. See their website for details. BTW, we found their portions to be very large and easily split between 2 adults. Sometimes even leftovers for lunch the next day.

We rented a condo at the El Conquistador property a few years back, which are better for families and newer than the hotel rooms. Chabad met us at the airport with our prepared meals for the week (we put some of them in the freezer when we arrived at El Con). If you plan on swimming in the ocean, the property is not on a swimming beach, but there is a ferry that will take you to an island owned by the resort for swimming. You are close to el Yunque and some other PR conservation areas that give guided tours. They also have a concierge service that will stock your room with groceries before you get there - good so you don't have to waste your vacation time hunting for kosher stuff or even good fruit and vegetables.
