Ovenella - Italian in Boca Raton

Haven't seen any comments on Ovenella in Boca.


Bill Citara had a brief write-up when they opened... but not really a review

"An oak-fired oven turns out pizzas either red (roasted chicken, catupiry cheese, tomato sauce and mozzarella) or white (gravlax with lemon-chive crème fraiche, asparagus, brie and capers), while pastas can be as simple as whole grain spaghetti with red and yellow tomatoes, arugula, pepperonata, garlic and olive oil or as elegant as lobster and crab ravioli with jumbo lump crab sauce and wilted spinach."

  1. mixed reviews in Trip Advisor, Worst Pizza and Open Table. I will give it a try in the next few weeks and report back.

    1. I had a few apps there. I went for their happy hour and bar menu specials. The pizzas (funghi and calabrese) were good, the arancini bolognese, while I'm not typically a fan of rice in a ball and deep fried, was amazing, the bruschetta trio and the fried calamari were delicious.

      I need to go back there for happy hour again, it was a good deal and half off all drinks and wine at that time. They have a basil martini that is wonderful.

      1. Had dinner here tonight, shared a wonderful beet salad with my daughter, roasted golden and red beets, gorgonzola, arugula and an orange marmalade dressing. We then had pasta, I had gnocchi with pesto, cream tomato and peas which was about 7/10 - a little bland but better with addition of shaved parmesan. My daughter had a special of porcini filled ravioli and a gorgonzola sauce with hazelnuts - very rich but delicious. We didn't drink because cocktails were $10-12 and wine $9 and up by the glass. The check was $60 incl tax and tip. Nice breads to start with a whole roasted garlic.

        It's a nice looking place, great attentive professional service.
