Best Indian Restaurant Orange County

Hi all,

Just moved to Irvine from the Northeast and dying to find good Thai food (really miss the many awesome Thai restaurants on 9th Ave in Manhattan).

Any suggestions???

The best Thai is at Thai Nakorn in Stanton and Garden Grove, at Bangkok Taste in Santa Ana, and at Siam Taste of Asia in Santa Ana. Any of these places blow 9th Ave. in the 40s/50s away.

Best Indian is actually just outside OC, all along Pioneer Blvd. in Artesia, but it's not as good as Queens or New Jersey. What kind of Indian? Punjabi? Gujarati? Southern?

WIll definitely try the Thai suggestions - will be psyched if they are really better than Manhattan!

In terms of Indian, Punjabi is the preference though we appreciate all kinds of Indian food. Have tried Royal Khyber and India Cook House - both were solid but not spectacular.

Try Punjabi Tandoor in Anaheim (bonus: it's across the street from Anaheim Brewery, so you can wander over and have a glass of their very good 1888 steam beer), then head for Tustin to eat at Haveli (especially for lunch), Traditions (especially for dinner), and Dosa Place (Southern Indian).

Also try Anapoorna in Irvine for Southern Indian. Their dosas are even better than Dosa Palace's, IMO.

Just to clarify. You say Indian food in your title and Thai food in the body of your post. Which one is right?

I'm looking for suggestions for both Indian and Thai, but decided to ask about Thai first (this was my first post to chowhound). Any suggestions on either would be fantastic as my wife and I are both Foodies and haven't had much success in finding good options so far.
