Waffle Question: Regular vs Belgian Waffles and Your Favor Toppings?

Hi all,

Two questions for you all.

1) Do you like regular/traditional waffle or Belgian waffles?

2) What is your favor topping on your waffle? Maple syrup? Powder sugar? Strawberries? Banana? Whipped cream?

Thanks for sharing.

Oh yes, in my case.

I prefer Belgian waffles. I like many types of toppings, but if I have to pick one... I say maple syrup.

I don't mean to digress, but there are actually 3 different types of "Belgian Waffles".

    1. gaufre de Bruxelles; 2. gallette, and 3. gaufre de Liege.

The first square and usu. (stress usually) reserved for sweet toppings. The second is like a waffle cookie (think a flattened out waffle cone). The third is the European equivalent of the American waffle.

    So to answer your question:

Type: Belgian (i.e. gaufre de Liege)
    Topping: Fried eggs, runny please.

I am more a fan of "regular" waffles, and love them with pecans, a la Camellia Grill's "Nutty Waffles," with real maple syrup. Next comes Blackberry Farm's waffles w/ their black walnut syrup.

Thanks Bill. May I follow up with a quick question? What do you use to make your waffles (if you make them at home)? What is the name of your waffle iron?
