1st Choice Restuarants Booked - Need New Recs

Have visitors coming on short notice and tried to make reservations for Saturday at

Kitchen 1540
Cucina Urbana

Well, they'll all booked on opentable. I'll still try to call tomorrow but in case they aren't free I need another place.

Definitely don't want any steakhouses and I'd like to avoid the Gaslamp area. The restuarants I tried to book give you an idea of what I'm looking for. I was thinking of Tapenade in La Jolla but don't know much about it.

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance

  1. What about The Lodge at Torrey Pines, they do a fine job.

      1. You could try for the Wine Vault and Bistro. I'd call ahead for reservations, but they have their 5 course tasting menu tomorrow.

        1. Eddie V's in LJ
          Marine Room LJ
AR Valentien at the Lodge at Torrey Pines
          Market Del Mar
          Mille Fleurs in RSF

          Try direct too.

+1 on Market and AR Valentien.
Call the restaurants directly--a lot of times Open Table will say they don't have reservations and then when you call, there's a lot more availability than you'd think.
Haven't been to Tapenade for a very long time, but they were good.

          2. I know that George's holds a large number of its tables for phone-in reservations. You might try calling them. I have gotten same day reservations for a Saturday night at least twice before., even when OpenTable said it was booked. It might not work tonight considering it is the holiday season, but I think it's worth a try.
