old American cheese

What might be done with a little stiff, old American cheese? It's perfectly good (as immature cheddar goes) & I hate to throw out.

It melts beautifully - that's its principal charm. Add it to anything where melted cheese is a plus.

I occasionally use up slightly dried out cheese by adding some of it to scrambled eggs or even quiche or frittata.

also crumbled into a salad with other cheeses, or melted in mac and cheese with all the ends of old cheese from the fridge
