Vitamix Professional Series 500 Blender or Magimix by Robot-Coupe 5200 XL Food Processor?
Okay...so mommy dearest is asking me what I want for Christmas. :D
Unfortunately I have to pick one. *super sad face* :((((
We have both a food processor and a blender at home but they're both equally crappy. I use them both regularly so picking based on how often I use a blender and food processor is out of the question. Which should I ask for? I was originally going to ask for these amazing Dior Homme boots but Williams Sonoma is having a sale so Im taking my chance on the Vitamix and Magimix which I've been fantasizing about for ages. They're 25% off if my order is $500+.

re: SanityRemoved
It's has some exclusions. I just spend $507.00 on WS yesterday and got my 25% off. My grandma bought x2 Vitamix Pro 500 at WS (one for her and one for me) two months ago. We got 10% off back then (she's really rich, so $ is never an issue for her). I absolutely love my Vitamix Pro 500, and have made butternut squash soup, california salsa, straberry sorbet, peach yogur smoothy...the list goes on.

re: dcrb
Just looking at the video for the Magimix, the features demonstrated look almost identical to my KitchenAid food processor. I've had probably three Cuisinart food processors before I bought this one quite a few years ago. I love it and it is still going strong. Mine is not a 16 cup, which I would like. The model I have now has been discontinued for a newer model.
I also have a Vitamix. I would never give up the Vitamix for a food processor.

re: littleprotege
Two things I would never do with our Vitamix is make dough and chop meat, both of which it can do (supposedly). I would lean toward the food processor since it is more capable on these tasks as well as slicing and shredding. But I would figure out a way to get the Vitamix as well since I find it superior for working with liquids/sauces. Tough choice. For the record, we have the Cuisinart 20 cup DLC-X as well as the original from 1976, or thereabouts and still use it for smaller tasks.
