Need a great spot to go with the parents this Friday

Hello Chowhounders,
,Just found out that my parents would like to take me out for a B-day dinner this Friday night and am looking for some suggestions for a good place to go. To give you an idea of the kind of place, we were originally thinking Buca or Ici Bistro but both are booked up. Have been to Canoe, Splendido, Globe and Ruby Watchco for past dinners and am trying to think of somewhere interesting to go. We live in the Danforth/Leslieville area but anywhere in the downtown area will work. Parents are 75 and prefer somewhere that we can hear each other across the table. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
LH

Mistura might fit the bill for you. You may also want to consider Campagnolo. Very different in terms of environment but you'll have a good meal at either with Mistura being the quieter of the two.

I didn't find it that loud but as I said above Mistura would be the quieter of the two.

I'm a big fan of Carisma on King Street. A nice evening with the parents might be a cocktail at the King Eddy bar and then Carisma is right next door.

We ended up at Ici Bistro aftertall as we had been on the waiting list and a table became available. It was the perfect place to go with the parents and we all loved our meals.
I can't wait to check out Campagnola and Carisma looks great as well - thanks so much for your suggestions!
