Holiday Staff Dinner for 6 in EV or Surrounding Area

twochesters Dec 6, 2011 06:24 PM

Hello to all
I'm hoping for some ideas of good places to take a small staff group for a fun dinner.
We have previously taken them to Pylos and Kittichai -- both worked well.
Looking for good food and also an attractive place with a festive feeling, but where you can hear each other speak.
Hoping to reserve for a weeknight next week.
We are in the East Village. We can go further west, south, north, a fairly small distance.
Thanks for all ideas and happy holidays!

    Hi to all
Hoping one more time for some guidance on above. I've got my consensus, want to reserve for next Tuesday or Wednesday, but i don't really know where to call.
    Help please??? Thanks very much.

You've not any budgetary paramenters, i.e., per person for *food only,* which would be helplful in making suggestions. But that said....

Ciano is our current favorite Italian. We were there recently with a party of 8 and, as usual, the food was superb. The wine program is excellent, service is friendly and attentive, and the atmospherics are lovely, including a conversation-friendly noise level.

Edited to add: Oops! I somehow glossed over the headline indicating that there will be 6 people. Thus, I've deleted the part of my post where I asked how many there would be and rephrased the rest of the opening sentence.

a few ideas: Kin Shop (a nice Thai-influenced contrast to Kittichai), Cacio e Vino (maybe not special enough, but a charming Sicilian place w/ a menu that tends to please groups), Pulqueria (new trendy Mexican in a Chinatown basement), DBGB (you could get a large booth there and drink wine, eat seafood platters, sausages, desserts)...

As RGR mentions, a price point (per person, food only) would be more helpful as not everybody will be familiar with Pylos and Kittichai.

That said, looking quickly on OpenTable for 6 people around 6:30pm next Tuesday, I see openings for:
        Saxon + Parole

403 East 12th Street, New York, NY 10009

45 Bond Street, New York, NY 10012

210 Elizabeth Street, New York, NY 10012

299 Bowery, New York, NY 10003

        Saxon + Parole

Thanks so much to all. I'll know better for next time re price point - I thought mentioning the previous places we've gone to would help, but I understand better now.
Thanks so much for the suggestions -- these are a huge help.

Well, I made some calls and was able to book for 6:30 Wednesday at Hearth and Public. I think we will probably go to Public. Any tips on ordering there? Thanks again.

The foie gras on French toast is amazing.

Thanks to all for the help yesterday. I still have reservations at Hearth and Public. In thinking about it, I would really appreciate your opinions about which to choose.
