Asian or Indian in Harrisburg area?
I'll be in the area for one day and am searching good Indian or Asian.. I've been to passage to India before and really liked it but would like a change. It can be a buffet, sit down, upscale, hole n the wall, sushi, Korean BBQ, Bahn mi, whatever really so long as it is good. Right now Tokyo diner for ayce sushi and Aangem Indian are on my radar. Thanks for the help!

West Shore...Sapporo for sushi (people who live in NYC and are avid sushi eaters agree with us) is SO good. Also, Bombay Juntion for Indian food...really authentic.
Note:Just went to Rancho Grande for Mexican and was blown away...packed and had to wait for a seat. Food was fabulous...fresh made guacomole...yum. -
Thanks for the replies. I ended up driving to Tokyo Diner but there wasn't a single person in the place, didn't get a great vibe and didn't feel like spending $25 if it wasn't going to be good. I ended up at Taco Shop Mexican Grill on Paxton. The tacos were really good as were the free small basket of chips and salsa. The red tamale was dried out and tastless, but for $10 for 3 tacos, chips, and a tamale I'm not complaining.
So is Tokyo Diner worth going to for ayce or not?

Also hope that this is in time; I went to Aangan last year and was quite satisfied with our dinner. Service was slow but friendly and it seemed like the Indian families at dinner were also enjoying themselves.

I only went once and now I don't remember. We had something with goat and something with paneer.
Angaan does tandoori items the best though. Plus you get some tikka masala sauce on the side and theirs is my favorite. Last time there I branched out and got what was basicLly paneer korma and it was way too rich, the cream literally coated you tongue.
I just remember thinking that I wouldn't mind going back to Madala Bistro after we left.
Also sadly Taj Palace has closed. I liked their food when you want something really spicy!

Hope this isn't too late. There are a few Vietnamese places around. I've been to Pho 88 on Cameron St. (?) and the one out on Paxton St. I've never been to Rose's on Walnut, but it gets really good reviews. My husband's college roommate was Vietnamese, and he's had lot's of food made by "mom" over the years, so I consider him to have a decent palate for Vietnamese. Nothing in Central PA will compare to what you can get in NoVa (Eden, Arlington), but, for what it's worth, he liked Pho 88 the better of the 2 places we've tried in Harrisburg.
Let us know what you end up doing, and what you thought!

re: centralpadiner
Is Pho 88 still there? I think it may not be. That location on Cameron St. has changed hands many times. Also, Rose's on Walnut Street is now Meiji, serving both Vietnamese and Chinese food. Rose got sick earlier this year and had to give up the restaurant. The Vietnamese items on the menu are still being made to her recipes. The young husband and wife that now run the place are very pleasant and accommodating, but I think the food was better when Rose was at the helm. For Vietnamese food, I would recommend the Vietnamese Garden at 6th and Reily Streets and possibly Ninh Kieu on Paxton Street.
Thai - Bangkok 56, just off Paxton Street
Korean - Spring Garden Restaurant at 35th and Market Street (aka the Carlisle Pike) in Camp Hill
Japanese/sushi - I haven't been there yet, but Miso Sushi on Route 22 in Lower Paxton Township has been getting rave reviews. On the West Shore, Sapporo East on the Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township.
Chinese - China Tea Room in Mechanicsburg. They also have a dim sum menu.
