  1. There is plenty of good food nearby, 55th and 56th St between 5th and 6th are good food blocks, what are you after... cuisine, price range...

I'm open but not too adventurous when it comes to cuisine. I tend to stick to french, Italian, american......maybe $50 all in(glass of wine, lunch and tip)

    2. If you make your meal lunch (especially a 2PM lunch when office workers are back at their desks you'll have a lot to choose from. These come to mind in the Rock Center 10 block radius.

      1. If you need some calories to keep your energy up while you shop, and are even remotely into peanut butter, i cannot recommend the nutter butter at bouchon bakery enough (and very convenient with the rock center location, even if there is always a line).

Despite the fact that I avoid midtown in december like the plague, a bite of one of these made a recent trip through the area slightly less maddening.

I'm partial to their chocolate peanut butter cup (like a higher quality Reese's, made with Vahlrona chocolate, house-made peanut butter mousse, fleur de sel) and while you're at it, grab a TKO (their Oreo). I'm strangely non-plussed by their chocolate bouchons.
