Hi all,

Really need some help, I am flying my partner over to New York fron UK to ask for her hand in marriage. I have all the proposal sorted but I'm struggling to find a good restaurant which has good vegetarian options for my partner.

I looked at Daniel but there is no availability for next weekend time, can anyone suggest a good place in the £100 to £200 per head region what is smart casual (doesn't require a jacket)

Cheers,

Kirk

Do you want to be closer to the low end of your budget or the high end of your budget? That's a big range. Also, does that include tax, tip, and wine?

It is unlikely that you will get a reservation at this point for a lot of the good restaurants in town, with this short notice. Try Bouley, they have a vegetarian tasting menu option and depending on what you drink, you could be in your budget range with no problem.

Unquestionably Eleven Madison Park. It's not because it's my favorite restaurant in the City so much as the last time I went was with my mother who has a very particular set of requirements. We learned that EMP isn't interested in just having acceptable vegetarian options, but in actually creating an incredible dining experience for anyone with special dietary restrictions (e.g., my mother said the gluten-free bread was the best she'd ever had). I cannot recommend them strongly enough for this special occasion. Do the incredible tasting menu is $195 which leaves room for some champagne and is still in your budget!

Having said all that, I feel compelled to mention Hangawi. Now it's not even close to EMP in any regard; however, it's the best vegetarian restaurant in NYC. It's Korean and is also ranked independently as the best Korean restaurant. I'm definitely a carnivore, but I still enjoy eating there, and it may be a nice gesture for her.
