Need a Recommendation for a Restaurant for a Holiday Party

  • 5

Our small office (10-14 people) go out together every December for a holiday party. In the past we've had our gathering at Boca Chica, Brick Lane Curry House, Congee Bowery and Seville. We like to sit at one big table, preferably a round one if possible. We like a place with a bar for obvious reasons. And some place that was not deafeningly noisy would be good as well. And the food should be at least good but we would be able with even better food. We like to keep the price range about $40-50 per person liquor, tax, tip included.

We'd like to go somewhere different this year and we need some suggestions. My partner suggested Delta Grill in midtown but I don't know it at all. I was thinking of something along the lines of Hill Country but I don't know their set up. We really are open to a variety of cuisines. Since our office is at Battery Park we prefer to be below 34th Street but we'll go further uptown if a place really fits the bill but definitely not above 59th St.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Poco in the EV does nice parties in the private basement area.

    2. How about Red Egg? They have big round tables and a nice selection of dim sum and other Chinese dishes that would be great for sharing. The location is also a plus--not such a hike from Battery Park!

      1. Blue Water Grill has a nice private party room. My friends had their pre-wedding party/dinner their. For more refined food and atmosphere, BLT Steak has an elegant private dining room. My company had a very nice celebration there with a similar number of people all at one big table. They also served family style so it was fun to try everything (this is probably just an option)--ribeye was everyone's favorite. Not sure how BLT Prime would do this downtown, but it's probably worth a look, too.

Hill Country has some novelty, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I don't know if they have a private room, but it's a bit of a zoo, plus people have to stand on line to get their food. If you want casual and different, you may want to consider the roof at Rare Burger (Rare View). I've been to the roof at their W. 26th St. location, and it seems good for a party. Not sure about their Lexington Ave roof as I've never been, but I know they have one.

For big groups, Hill Country does a special family style prix fixe menu, so you don't have to stand in line for your meat/sides.
