ISO - Almond butter cups (sold at wfm)

Hey there

I have suddenly had a craving for the almond butter cups that are sold at WFM (at the Symphony branch they were sold at the check-out) but I can't remember the name of the brand. I am back in the UK and am looking to see if I can find a supply here. They are sold in a pack of 2 cups and there might be some picture of a rainforest on the packet. I think you can get them in dark or milk chocolate - either is good!

My OH is allergic to nuts (but almonds are ok as I think the are seeds) so these are a lovely salty-sweet alternative. I know I could make my own, but I would like to at least find out the name of the brand - it's annoying me now!

  1. I am sorry that I can't help you with the candy, but I was curious about your statement that your OH (just learned that this means Other Half!) could eat almonds despite a nut allergy, so I did a bit of research. Almonds actually are seeds of the almond tree, and are classified as "tree nuts" under U.S. law, along with the walnut, Brazil nut, cashew, chestnut, hazelnut, macadamia nut, pecan, pine nut and pistachio. So it seems that many things we call nuts are actually seeds. Peanuts, on the other hand, are legumes.

Yeah he is allergic to hazlenuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, pine nuts, cashew nuts , macademia nuts and peanuts. Almonds and sesame and pumkin seeds are OK - HOWEVER, he doesn't like the texture - of them so would never eat a whole one or a slivered one - like in a tarte almandine or on top an almond croissant (my faves!) They remind him of biting into a nut - that kind of smooth shearing that happens... Luckily for me, my fave nuts are almonds so I get to still eat them and have them in the house!!

He has an inkling that pistachio might be OK as might chestnut- but it is not an experiment we want to try!! He has been eating Toblerone and marzipan before he was diagnosed so we know he is OK with that!
