One week in Austin

I am headed to Austin for the first time next week. We have a full week to eat Austin's best. We want to run the gambit from fine dining to food trucks. What are the places not to miss? Will we need advance reservations at restaurants?

  1. I just had my first dinner at Wink, and it will not be my last. Rezzies for sure as it is a small space. Portions are a bit on the small side, but quality and presentation were impeccable. Beer and wine only.

I'm also a fan of Kerby Lane Cafe (several locations). Hippie-kinda vibe (normal for Austin?) with plenty of stuff for the veggie crowd.

At the top of the list if I am in town on Sunday is the brunch buffet at Fonda San Miguel. Off the charts Central/Regional Mex in a gorgeous space.

    1. As far as Brisket BBQ goes, and it is a must, wait in line at Franklin's for lunch during the middle of the week. And, eat Lamberts BBQ too. I prefer to eat upstairs in their bar. Has a bar menu, but you can order off main menu as well. The super cheesy Mac n' Cheese is a must!
