Looking for a local seafood restaurant or market similar to those found along the Gulf coast. Any suggestions?

Well, since we're over 400 miles from the Gulf Coast ...

Most people think that the best seafood market in town is Louisiana Seafood, downtown at the Farmer's Market: http://nashvillefarmersmarket.org/mer.... There is also Gulf Pride in Franklin: http://gulfprideseafood.com/. In Brentwood, there's a Whole Foods in the Cool Springs area; also one in town in Green Hills. If you come in town to Nolensville Rd, there are a number of ethnic markets like K&S that sell seafood, sometimes live.

For restaurants, in downtown Franklin is 55 South -- not exclusively seafood, but they do Louisiana-style food for the most part and have seafood options. http://eat55.com/menus/, and http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashvil.... Also in town is Fish & Co., run by a James Beard award-winning chef. There are a number of seafood places, or places that have a heavy seafood component in town, all of which are OK -- South Street, Batter'd & Fried (NE style), Ri'chards, Chappy's, Bro's.

Louisiana Seafood carries shellfish but very little fish. K&S has a decent variety of fish and shellfish. I haven't been to Gulf Pride -- is that the place that used to be in the Farmers' Market? I liked that place.

Yes I think Gulf Pride used to be in the FM. The owner left in a huff when they started the renovations.

I don't know that I'd call it a huff, exactly. He was asked to pay $10,000 to upgrade the space, and decided that if he had to put in that kind of money he'd rather get his own storefront. At least, that's what he told me at the time. I miss being able to get fresh fish at the market, but I can understand his point of view.
