Moderately Priced Italian or American in Midtown East

Hi ... I need a moderately priced American or Italian restaurant in the 50s where the noise level is reasonable so I can have a conversation with someone without screaming or asking them to repeat what they just said. I was going to go with Pescatore, but it's often crowded, noisy and has tables close together. Am thinking Montebello. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
