Montréal En Lumière Festival 2012 Fine Dining Program – Got any suggestions?

  • 9

Hello Montreal hounds,

The schedule for the 2012 Montreal en lumière just came out, and since I'm not really informed on the worldwide fine-dining scene, I really can't make heads or tails of it. Frankly, I'm having a hard time getting excited about anything in the program.

Thus, I solicit your opinions. What looks exciting to you in this schedule? What would you pass on? Are there any musts? And why?

Thanks in advance for your advice,

SnackHappy.

  1. Well being from the Outaouais area, Im excited to see that they are spotlighted this year :) It might be a good way to discover their stuff without going to Gatineau-Ottawa (which isnt that far so maybee its better to directly go there) I would probably investigate the guys from l'Orée du Bois (altough I find there food a bit too rich sometime), Moulin de Wakefield and Baccara?

I would definitely go check out the Jean Talon showcase

Les fougères, La boucanerie (amazing smoked fish and other seafoods), Brasseurs du temps (very good microbrews), are all pretty good and worth checking out.

The gourmet event focusing on the movie Chocolat seems interesting too... but expensive

    1. I hope someone (restaurant) will have a menu with Belgian beer pairing.

Other than that, I'm not quite familiar with Belgian Food (other than mussels!! )

Tha's like every single themed night!

There's a menu at Le Saint-Gabriel, Aix, etc.

I'm pretty sure at least half of the evening meals are Belgian cuisine and beer (or wine pairing on the higher end).

          ???? confused ?

          They already posted menus ?

      2. I just glanced at it, and I know for sure that I will try to fit in at least one chocolate related event since I am obsessed with chocolate. If I can manage to book a dinner (I doubt I could, It will be a very busy couple of weeks for me) I would love to go to La Porte only because every year I hear about what they had served and regret not having gone there.

        1. How do you buy tickets to the events? Will a Buy option appear soon?

You make reservations to each restaurant/events individually.

I thought I remembered in previous years you reserved a spot directly from the festival website. Guess I was wrong...
