Upscale lounges / bars for a Friday afternoon

I visit L.V. often and am familiar with most of the city's finest restaurants. However, my knowledge and experience is lacking when it comes to glitzy, upscale watering holes. I know about and like the Parasol Down bar at Wynn, but that's about it.

I'll be treating my staff of three ladies to a whirlwind Friday in a few weeks where we'll fly into town for dinner (Le Cirque) and fly out the same night. They're all Vegas novices and are very excited. I told them this would be "dress up" time and they've already gone out and bought dresses and shoes.

We'll have a few hours to kill before dinner and I'd like to hit a few lounges or bars along the Strip that either have nice views, glam surroundings and/or great specialty cocktails. Looking for suggestions.

  1. Chandelier bar at the Cosmopolitan...

    1. Mandarin Bar at Mandarin Oriental. Great views and great drinks.

Unfortunately, this one doesn't open until 5 PM; too late for us as we're having an early dinner.

Again, not knowing the time it opens but what about Mix restaurant atop Mandalay? You'd probably get great sunset views around 4-4:30 in December.

            Another not open until 5.

Anyone been to either of the Minus 5 ice bars?

      2. It's been awhile but the Voodoo lounge at the top of the Rio has a great outside venue and views of the strip..
I was very impressed with drinks at Chandelier in September...enjoy Parasol down at the Wynn.
Maybe the top of the Eiffel tower at Paris..
That is so sweet that you are taking your staff out to Vegas...what a good boss you are!

        1. I love the bar at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. The drinks are great and you have the view of the dancing waters across the strip at Bellagio.
