New and noteworthy in South Beach?

I'm looking for some recommendations in South Beach. My budget and cuisine preferences are pretty open, but nothing to dressy since I'll be in jeans and polo shirt.

In the past I have enjoyed China Grill, Emeril's, Toni's sushi bar, and a few others but I'm curious to try some newer places. Thanks!

  1. After browsing some threads I was thinking of Nobu, Sardinia, BLT Steak, and Tap Tap. How is The Dutch?

not sure why you would do nobu as it is a chain and there are now many cities with a nobu. BLT steak is also a chain and the chef just changed.

Why don't you try chow down grill, yardbird, or any one of the pubbellies instead.

I have not been to the dutch yet. It opened 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a big fan of The National in NYC, also owned by Geoffrey Zakarian, so I decided to try Tudor House last night. I enjoyed the butter lettuce salad, steak and brussels sprouts side dish. I tried it again for lunch today - the fried chicken was phenomenal and the beets side dish was good too.

My experience at The Dutch was rather mixed. Too soon to come to any conclusions though, since the restaurant just opened, but I'm sure it will improve over the next few weeks. Fwiw, it's a great looking restaurant and the service was top notch.

I tried The Dutch last night. Overall, our experience was excellent. Food was very, very good. Standout for us were the pizza with blue crab and jalapenos and the pappardelle w/ lamb ragu.

The service was excellent (although we were never brought the bread which looked very good. . .perhaps b/c we had ordered pizza? In any event, we decided not to ask for it, so -- no big deal). Loved the decor and the atmosphere was great. We went on a Monday night and it was quite crowded. Weekends must be a madhouse.

Cocktails were great too and the wine and spirits list was impressive. Good bourbon selection (PVW 15, 20 and 23 by the glass). Very nice beer selection as well.
