La Binerie Mont-Royal in Montreal

  • 2

Can't believe that this place doesn't have it's own thread.

I always loved the Baked Beans "BINES" with my breakfast at La Binerie I never had lunch there. You can also have breakfast in the afternoon.

So I had the specialty québecois dish "ragout de pates" with meat balls $13.95. I was disappointed with the gravy on the ragout. It wasn't salty nor tasty. Even by adding salt it was kind of bland. The meat balls "boulette" were good. I ordered a beans plate on the side and that saved the lunch. The "bine" pronounced BEEN were great!

I don't know if it was an off day in the kitchen but overall it was a okay lunch. In the future I will stick to my usual breakfast with their amazing beans. That are in my book a unique dish tagged Québécois!

Never had anything similar anywhere else.
I know they have meat pie or shepard pie aka "tourtière" maybe I'll have a slice with my next breakfast.

Did I mention the beans? really really good!

  1. Still a good place IMO. However since the new owners took over tend to under salt their dishes

If I'm not mistaken, they're trying to make the food a little healthier which could explain the undersalting.
