Marc Forgione - just good food - moved from Food Media and News board
I don't care about the Iron Chef hoo ha. We ate at Marc Forigone tonight and the food was delicious. Ambiance warm, rustic, but somehow hip. Excellent Nantucket bays, raw, in a lemony cold "broth" with uni and a few clementines floating about. Followed by monkfish with a hugh haunch of bone marrow - complex and wonderful flavors, fun to eat. Others had pork chop, chicken under a brick (was there ever a better chicken?) Warm and responsive service, appropriate wines, robust and homey desserts. Wow. I'd go back there again and again.

I'm awful fond of Forgione - I think it's unjustly overlooked, and doing bang-up food for the price point. The BBQ Oysters, Chili Lobster and Brick Chicken are certified classics (only chicken that might compete is Waxman's at Barbuto...)
Yeah, he might be an Iron Chef now (though the only one with a losing record - how that happened, I dunno...) but he's not like, say, Flay with his 8,000 restaurants that he never actually sets foot in - Forgione is (for now) a one-resto guy, perhaps expanding but not to the point where he won't be in his main kitchen on a regular basis. And his restaurant knocks it out of the park consistently.
