Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx

Little Italy in the Bronx---recommendations

Have visited Manhattan extensively and will be spending 4 days there in a couple of weeks. Have read some encouraging articles about Little Italy in the Bronx. Considering spending 1/2 day there and traveling via the subway from midtown. 1. Is it worth the trip? 2. Would like recommendations for a deli and a dinner spot. Love all things food and enjoy discovering unique/colorful places & things--- will be buying some Italian coffees, cheeses, and maybe some cooking accessories. Would really like a great slice of pizza and later, a big bowl of classic pasta.

Any/all suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom

Thank you, Erica. You have provided me with a wealth of resources. This sounds like my kinda' place. One tip on the post regarding the north metro train out of grand central is a gem.
Sitting in NC and counting the days until the trip to Manhattan. Regards, Tom

Great! And keep in mind that the fresh pasta from Borgatti, which I think is just one of the best food products in t he NYC area, will keep very well in the freezer for a few months as long as you pack it well. (Use foil over the paper they give you, and then in a Zip-loc bag)

Thank you for the tips. I've figured out the travel from Manhattan and have used google earth to view the various landmarks from the street. If you wanted a classic old world soup/appetizer(probably fried calamari), salad, and pasta meal, where would you head? I'm cooking a slow simmered bolognese sauce for dinner right now. Thanks, Tom
