Dim sum and lunch buffet at Fuloon?

Hounds-
There are umpteen threads on Fuloon and its wonderfulness, perhaps even one hidden somewhere discussing daytime eats, but I can't find it. Is the weekend dim sum buffet style, cart style (seems unlikely) or to order? Is it worth going to? (seems likely). Is the weekday lunch buffet full of spicy goodness, or is it dumbed down sweet and sour chicken fingers?
Thanks, from a Hound with a baby- lunch is our new favorite meal!

  1. The weekend dim sum buffet consists of a few dim sum items on a buffet table. I would not think of it as anything to go out of your way for. The weekday buffet is mostly dumbed down Chinese food that is usually lukewarm and pretty underwhelming.

    1. If you're in the neighborhood and want dim sum any day of the week, go a few blocks further to Sun Kong on Eastern Ave.

You can always order off the menu for lunch at Fuloon...or let the kids get the buffet so they're eating right away, and order the spicy goodness for yourselves. Fuloon is very kid-friendly (as is Sun Kong).

      1. I have been to Fuloon for lunch many times, but would recommend ordering off the standard menus. The food is equally delicious during the day! If you're hungry right away, order some of the cold appetizers, such as the Cold Bean Curd or the Bang Bang Chicken.

        1. I haven't been to weekend buffet in maybe a year but that point it had improved dramatically from a few years previous, with a largely Chinese clientele, and very good if you chose carefully (fresh-looking pastries, the soups) although few dishes were spicy. Skip the non-dimsum side of the buffet. More than "a few" dishes but not a huge number. I wouldn't go far out of my way but I wouldn't dismiss it either. Weekend lunch is a great time to order off the menu though. Weekday buffet and the lunch specials are not recommended. Chilli Garden has a few interesting weekday lunch specials on the Sichuan side, no buffet.
