Please Visit Pappy's (Burnet and 2222)

Come on - the owner is playing guitar on the roof non-stop. Let's drum up some support for this locally-ownerd business!

Husband and I thought we might try it this past weekend. We were turned off by the pictures of the food on the website and ended up not going. Not necessarily fair, but...

I felt the same way. I was also turned off by them touting the "Express Line" on their menu, which made me think it's either cafeteria style or that everything is microwaved. There could be good food in restaurants that make bad marketing choices, but with only that to go on, I thought I'd wait and see if they get some reviews. I'd be really happy to find out they have good food. The location is convenient.

Yeah I feel bad about the whole situation... I actually saw a segment about him playing on his roof on CNN today. As much as the food on the website looks like locally-owned Applebee's fare, I hope he pulls through. Whether it's through your food or your attitude, you've gotta find a way to stand out as a small restaurant; he's managing to do it with this roof stuff for sure, national media attention and everything. Best of luck to him!

Went today with a friend. The food is indeed served cafeteria-style, but isn't bad for what it is. Everything's made in-house, and the cost for a protein and two sides with an iced tea was $10 even. I'd recommend the chips and mashed potatoes (new potatoes, skin mixed in), but might opt for the burger that Sutter seemed to enjoy when he was there over the meatloaf that was a bit too sweet for my taste.

The staff was super nice, offering samples and explaining the ordering process and such, and the owner's guitar playing is pretty awesome.

The main problem seems to be the size of the place. I'd put capacity at around 150, and it's hard to drive that much business on a consistent basis. Regardless, I'll stop by and give them another ten dollars sometime soon.
