Marion, Illinois? Please help me thrill my folks
My folks make the annual driving sojourn from the frigid Wisconsin winter to the balmy Florida winter.
No cliche here! :-)
Anyway, they change up their stopping points and marvel at the Chowhounds' abilities to point them in the direction of a meal other than Cracker Barrel or Olive Garden.
Any good eats in Marion? My searches have come up dry.
Thanks in advance,

I'm sorry you haven't had a reply yet. I lived in Cape Girardeau, MO, about 20 years ago and wandered over into Southern Illinois occasionally, so I'll do the best I can with what I remember. (We went back for a visit 3 years ago, and it was surprising how many of the old haunts were still there.) Are your folks committed to staying on/near I-57, or will they be open to varying their route?
Actually, they rolled through Marion last night.
I found "Honeybakers" for them. A nice homestyle diner, from what it appeared.
My dad emailed me a brief message, last night, that a simple, tasty meal of that nature was just the ticket after a day of driving.
Appreciate the effort.
