Is there a GREAT restaurant in or around (30 mins) Montebello?

I'm spending the 24th at Chateau Montebello with my gf for the holidays and have reservations for the Christmas brunch at Aux Chantignoles the morning of the 25th. I don't want to eat at the hotel restaurant the night before as well though. I'm looking for something more interesting than hotel cuisine, preferably in an atmospheric setting not too far from the CM. I'd be willing to drive approx. 30-40 mins in any direction for a great meal. Something regional, cuisine au terroir or french... Is there anything in the area? The plan is to spend the evening swilling classic cocktails in the lobby bar, nighttime sleigh ride through the forest, ice skating, movies in hotel room, and latenight crepes with maple butter and cheesecake with fresh berry coulis and champagne in bed -- an annual holiday tradition! I usually drive down the night after Christmas though and do dinner in the city beforehand. What are our best options?

Chantignoles was great for dinner when I was there with a group last fall. Everything was spot on and no one complained (a first for our work team).

Thanks so much for the suggestions!

Is Les Fougères a destination restaurant and would it be worthy of an hour's drive north?

I doubt we'll want to commit to that after cocktails/wine etc. anyway.

It is a very good restaurant, I would say one of the best in the Gatineau area (in my opionion... I'm from Chelsea so I might be a bit biased ;) ) but I agree with you that it would be too far to drive from Montebello, specially on Chrismas Eve. Maybe keep it in mind for another time you come in the area?

I should also mention Les Fougères (located in Chelsea) but it's a bit of a drive (maybe an hour?).

I had an absolutelly lovely diner at Le Pot au Feu a few years ago. Everything was delicious, and I thought it was pretty romantic.
