Marca Restaurant in Whitby

Had a chance to eat at Marca today for lunch in downtown Whitby. Very nice room, jazz inspired Italian motif. Having very few great restaurants in Durham, I was surprised by the level of friendly casual service and a great lunch menu. The server brought over fresh bread made on the premises with a side of olive oil and vinegar....delish! We shared the appetizer of Arancini, excellent choice with gooey cheesy centre and fried to perfection. It was served with a homemade tomato sauce for dipping. My guest had a chicken caesar that was very good. The surprise was the chicken. Very moist and seasoned perfectly. I had the Margherita pizza....nice thin crust and excellent tomato sauce. No room for desserts this time but the espresso was very good and we will be back for dinner when they have their jazz band playing. A really nice addition to the Durham restaurant scene.

  1. Good to know. I'll be moving to the area in the spring and have been depressed by the the lack of quality restaurants in the area. I look forward to trying!
