Best fresh Indian sweets in GTA

Food Tourist Nov 24, 2011 03:02 PM

After eating a freezer-burnt stale cashew burfi, I decided I need to track down a source of fresh, delicious Indian sweets. I should know this by now, but which Indian shops or takeout restaurants anywhere in the GTA make amazing jalebis, laddus, chom choms, nut-based sweets, milk-based sweets, etc.? I'm talking about places that have stacks of empty boxes, a scale, and perhaps a showcase, that sell sweets by weight.

Moti Mahal (1422 Gerrard E.) has what you want. Enjoy!

IMO the best Indian sweets are to be found at The Sweet Palace on Peter Robertson near Airport Road. Wonderful selection and divine freshness.

I second Motimahal... especially their kalakhand. I've also heard good reports about Mahar, but I've only had a few sweets there, which were however very nice.

Oh yeah! I forgot about A1. I usually think of them as just samosas (amazing samosas, that is).
