Violon d'Ingres on the downslide?

RandyB Nov 22, 2011 09:31 PM

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, given the price/quality balance and the cassoulet available for one.

I haven't been there in the past two years. I have been seeing recent reports on other sites suggesting that prices have become relatively more expensive while portion size and quality have diminished. There are also complaints about service and noise level. The latter may always have been an issue.

Anyone been there recently who might comment?

I believe grace3 has a group there for Thanksgiving dinner; perhaps she will write it up here, as well as that site which must not be named.

Randy, I was there 2 times in Sept. and even though Chef Schmidt left over the summer to take over l'Os à Moelle, things were still as good as ever to my taste. M. Constant was there both times popping in and out of the kitchen

Randy - I have never thought it was as good as it was positioned. Constant does some good things in his cheaper places but Violin is relatively expensive an I don't think it really delivers at its price point. A safe choice for many but a safe choice for many, but it didn't wow me enough to want to return, and that is when I lived in the 7th.
