want to try my first ever pork-bone soup, where should I go?

So, I have never had the stuff but really want to try it. I should mention I'm a hardcore downtowner, so won't be venturing out to Markham, etc. So, I'm asking for recommendations on which place in Koreatown (Bloor St. W.) is currently putting out the best bowl of Gamjatang. I'm not necessarily looking for the spiciest, but rather the most flavourful, with the best banchan to go with it. Also, are there any side dishes (other than the banchan) that people would recommend I order with it if I'm really hungry?

A Korean friend of mine swears by Thumbs Up, and now I'm hooked. I've tried others, but Thumbs Up gets my vote...

I would recommend The Owl for the soup!

I always go to Ka Chi in Koreatown on Bloor St. for my Gamjatang.

Owl of Minerva is one of the best in Koreatown, but just for gamjatang. Also, it's open 24 hrs.

bad thing about owl is that their banchan is meh......

I would suggest you check out Sunrise. Besides the single order for gamjatang, there is an option for 2 that has a bigger portion and is cheaper. Sunrise has some of the best banchan on the downtown strip.

I second Owl of Minerva for gamjatang, but like aser said, the banchan isn't inspiring. I'm also a sucker for their dubu kimchi, even though it's easy to make at home.

If you opt for Owl of Minerva's gamjatang, get the original. The one with rice cakes (dduk) is blander and costs more.

Some of my friends swear by Seor Ak San.

I've only tried Thumbs Up, at least a hundred times. I'm I "doing it all wrong" ?
