Urgent Baking Advice Needed!! I think my recipe is wrong!

HELP!! I am in the middle of making chocolate chip pies and I think the recipe has the wrong amount of butter. The ingredients are

2 large eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed golden brown sugar
1 tspn vanilla extract
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/8 tspn salt
1 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter melted ---THIS CAN'T BE RIGHT, 1 stick is 1/2 cup
1 cup semisweet chcolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 9" diameter deep dish pie crust.

I'm up to the point of adding the chocolate chips and nuts, then will pour it into the crust. The thickness of the batter looks good but I haven't a clue if the amount of butter is right. I've got to finish this tonight and hit the road tomorrow. And I've got to bake a batch of cookies after the pie....

Any advice? Add another stick of butter? Oh, and I doubled the recipe as I've got 2 pie crusts to fill.

THANKS!!!!

I think it's too late but fyi I found another reference for your recipe, if it's the one for McCarthy Restaurant:

In this one, 1 cup butter.

eta: nvm, it's from the epicurious recipe so they interpreted the one cup, but fwiw that one was at least reviewed whereas the one on epi had not one. Still seems like an awful lot of butter.

I saw this recipe but it's not the one I have. Thanks anyway!

Oy vey, what to do?? I had already added the melted butter. The batter is thick now so I think another 1/4 cup might work (thank you Mattkin for your recipe). This is a recipe from Bon Appetit, not very old, and I checked both their website and epicurious.com. Couldn't find it on either site (and epicurious has a Chocolate Chip Pie but it's by the Deen brothers and not the same ingredients). I thought the website would have a correct version but noooo...

If this doesn't work I'll have to try another recipe.

        Thanks for all your responses!!

You are welcome. My grandmother's recipe is just the tollhouse recipe with vanilla added. I'll add the link to the tollhouse recipe. I think your pie should be just fine with the added 1/4 cup of butter.

YES!!! This is the exact recipe only the butter is different. Mine came out a bit darker (I pulled it right at 50 minutes). Can't wait til Thursday to taste it, might have to sneak a slice before then. Glad I made 2 pies.

            THANKS AGAIN!!!

I just checked my recipe and it calls for 3/4 cup butter softened (1 1/2 sticks). The ingredients are almost the same. Same amounts of flour, sugar, chocolate, etc.

Hope it helps and best of luck.

I would guess that they got the numbers reversed -- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick). At least that's what I would do. Good luck!

I would guess that they swapped the word "cup" and "stick". So if it read "1 stick (1/2 cup)" it would make a lot more sense.

Mind you, I don't know what the texture of the pie is supposed to be like, so it's hard to tell what the ratio of ingredients should be.
