Tom Wolfe is coming to Pass Christian
Tom Wolfe (Wolfe's and Peristyle) has purchased French Charley's at 111 West Scenic Drive in Pass Christian and will be reopening it (not sure if they are keeping the name) in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to give it a try.
Of other culinary interest here in Pass Christian, Cuevas Bistro will be opening a second location in "downtown" Pass Christian. Lucio's Mexican restaurant has moved from the 2nd block of Davis to the first block. The two newcomers will join Chilli Willie's Pizzeria and Sub Way on Davis Avenue.
Pirate's Cove is on Market Street and Shaggy's is at the West harbor. Shaggy's has also opened up a seafood store next to the gas station at the East harbor.
Ate at Wolfe's for the first time last night without considering that it might be the same Wolfe.
Halfway through dinner we both stopped and remarked on how good and interesting the food was. We'll definitely be returning, and regularly.
We have some good restaurants on the Coast (too few though in comparison with our population), a number of restaurants that used to be good or act like they're good (Mary Mahoney, I'm looking at you), but very few that have inventive and well-executed food.
Also, the cocktails are good at Wolfe's, putting it in a class of one in coastal MS according to our household's rating system (good eating, interesting flavors, atmosphere, cocktails).
